Macrophonics is released

Flickerpix Animations in Northern Ireland have just released MACROPHONICS
A fun and educational alphabet game for young children- for the iPad, based on the IFTA award winning
short animated film MACROPOLIS.

MACROPHONICS now gives you the chance to interact with stop-motion animation
characters by watching them play with a host of interesting items they have
found, like a Cupcake, a Roller Skate and a Xylophone.

This free iPad app, available to download from the iTunes App Store, features 26
unique animations, helping children to understand the alphabet phonetically.

Kavaleer Productions are recruiting a Production Manager for an upcoming TV series.

 

Position Requirements:

-          Supervise and manage in house animation teams

-          Develop planning and tracking systems for production

-          Co-ordinate notes and review sessions

-          Update tracking system daily

-          Track daily and weekly targets for production

-          Work with Animation Director in the assigning of tasks

-          Work efficiently with overseas co-production company

-          Respond to problems and issues as they develop during the production process

-          Must reside or be willing to relocate to Dublin

-          EU passport required

-          Previous Animation Production Manager or Coordinator experience required

-          Knowledge of Cel Action animation pipeline preferred

-          Must be highly organized and have excellent communication skills

Position requirements:

-          Must reside or be willing to relocate to Dublin.

-          EU passport required.

-          Must have experience in CelAction, preferably as an Animation Director.

-          Direct and supervise 4 teams of animators

-          Write scene by scene animation notes for each episode

-          Review animation passes from the internal (and external) teams and write notes and responses to push animation to the desired standard

-          Must have excellent communication and time management skills

2D DIGITAL ANIMATOR (CELACTION)

Kavaleer Productions are recruiting 2D digital animators for an upcoming TV series. The project will be animated using CelAction 2D software.  We’re working on multiple high profile projects, so this is a great opportunity.

Position Requirements:

-          Must have proven 2D character animation experience. Preferably on broadcast series or film production.

-          Minimum of 2 years experience using CelAction, Flash, After FX, Toon Boom or Anime Studio in a paid position.

-          The ideal canditate will have CelAction experience, but this is not essential as training can be provided.

-          Must have excellent knowledge of traditonal animation principles and the ability to apply them to the digital medium.

-          Must be flexible, willing to learn and be a motivated and motivating team player.

-          Able to work within a production schedule.

-          Must have good interpersonal skills.

-          Must be willing to work in house in our Dublin studio.

Animation Dingle

Animation Dingle  http://www.dinglefilmfestival.com/programme/saturday-16th/animation-dingle/   is fast approaching and any submissions you have are most welcome. Saturday March 16th will see the beautiful St Pauls Church host two strands of Irish Produced TV animation that has been produced over the past 24 months. The day will be broken up by a morning preschool strand which, not surprisingly there seens to be a glut of and an afternoon of  kids 6-12 content. (Tech specs below). Please submit your shows by March 1st. to Alison@jammedia.ie. Maurice Galway will select the submissions.

After the screenings a panel discussion will be facilitated  where some of the most controversial and opinionated tinkers in the industry today discuss er the industry today.The event culminates with the Great Jimmy Murakami being presented with a lifetime achievement award.

All that and it’s in Dingle! And it’s Paddy’s weekend! Why wouldn’t you?

The CDVEC are currently undergoing a massive change, which it has been reported that Balyfermot College of Further Education will be hit significantly, especially its ‘Irish School of Animation’ department. We all know of Gareth Lee’s massive efforts in reforming the course and getting industry more involved with ISA in recent years, to which he is calling us to help out with BCFE’s public campaign for support.

Bluebear Technology are looking for a Game Artists

Game Artist

Bluebear is looking for a skilled 2D generalist. Art style should lend itself to the kids market. The position will be responsible for creating and designing all artwork from concept to completion. We are looking for someone with a wide range of skills including illustration, texture painting, interface art, cartoon style and, as an added bonus, limited 3d modeling knowledge.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with game producers and programmers to design game assets, including
  • 2D static images, 2D animated content, texture painting illustrations, in-game promotional material, and UI elements.
  • Take the lead on creating concept art. Produce mock ups of game ideas and game processes. Implement art concepts by creating highly polished game-ready art assets.
  • Participate in the game development process, providing input on game play, asset design, and UI functionality.

Type of Person

  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the best iOS applications on the App Store, and an appreciation for beautiful UI.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
  • General understanding and interest in brand development.
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm in computer games in general, and an interest in kidsgame development.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of graphic illustration, and game art.
  • General understanding of animation principles.
  • Should have deep knowledge modern illustration tools, Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
  • Please provide links to your portfolio of work and/or games you have worked on before.

 

Salary/Contract Rate
This role can be offered on a permanent or contract basis. Salary or Contract Rate will be negotiable.

Location

This role is based at The Digital Hub, Dublin 8, located 15 minutes walk from the city
centre and minutes from LUAS and Heuston Stations.
