Game Artist

Bluebear is looking for a skilled 2D generalist. Art style should lend itself to the kids market. The position will be responsible for creating and designing all artwork from concept to completion. We are looking for someone with a wide range of skills including illustration, texture painting, interface art, cartoon style and, as an added bonus, limited 3d modeling knowledge.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with game producers and programmers to design game assets, including
  • 2D static images, 2D animated content, texture painting illustrations, in-game promotional material, and UI elements.
  • Take the lead on creating concept art. Produce mock ups of game ideas and game processes. Implement art concepts by creating highly polished game-ready art assets.
  • Participate in the game development process, providing input on game play, asset design, and UI functionality.

Type of Person

  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the best iOS applications on the App Store, and an appreciation for beautiful UI.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
  • General understanding and interest in brand development.
  • Genuine passion and enthusiasm in computer games in general, and an interest in kidsgame development.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of graphic illustration, and game art.
  • General understanding of animation principles.
  • Should have deep knowledge modern illustration tools, Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
  • Please provide links to your portfolio of work and/or games you have worked on before.

 

Salary/Contract Rate
This role can be offered on a permanent or contract basis. Salary or Contract Rate will be negotiable.

Location

This role is based at The Digital Hub, Dublin 8, located 15 minutes walk from the city
centre and minutes from LUAS and Heuston Stations.

KAVALEER PRODUCTIONS ARE LOOKING FOR ANIMATORS / LEAD ANIMATORS

• Assist the Director, Animation director, character designers, animators and the Compositors to maintain the highest levels possible throughout each stage of the production.

• Animate assigned scenes under direction of Animation Director.

• Animate scenes to the highest standard possible, completing the allocated seconds per week using Flash.

• Complete any necessary retakes as requested by the Animation Director/ Director

• Arrive on time, complete the allocated hours, however be willing to work overtime should the schedule require it.

• Communicate on a daily basis with the Animation Director, Production Manager and Production Coordinator.

REQUIREMENTS: • – Must have proven FLASH ANIMATION experience. Preferably on TV broadcast series or film production.

• – Must have good creative vision and the ability to convey that vision through your work.

-• Must be flexible, willing to learn and be a motivated and motivating team player.

• – Able to work within a production schedule.

• – Must have good interpersonal skills.

• – Must be a European citizen living/willing to relocate to Ireland

Digital Biscuit

Get your animation gear ready to bag as Digital Biscuit is on the horizon! This unique three-day event is dedicated to digital revolution overtaking film industry. Organised by SDGI, it takes place in the Science Gallery on January 24-26. It will be preceded by the screening of ‘Side by Side’, a documentary on impact of digital media on film, with director Christopher Kenneally in attendance.

A combination of talks, free workshops and techy product display is bound to bring renowned national and global talents to discuss how digital media has affected the process of film production and broadcasting. Among speakers there will be including David Yates (Director Harry Potter Series), Richard Baneham (VFX Avatar), Darragh O’Connell (Co-founder Brown Bag Films), Brian Gilmore (Post Production and Technology, Brown Bag Films) and Chris Nee (Creator/Executive Producer Doc McStuffins Disney Junior).

Birch Hamilton, SDGI’s Executive Director says “These professionals will give inspiring talks on the landscape of film today with advice on how directors can use technology to break boundaries, enhance their work and make their content even more visually creative”.
The event will be accompanied by the KinoPlay Space and Suite where participants can view and explore products and services currently used in movie making. On Saturday Paddy Breathnach and Steve Woods will announce winners of the Film and Animation competition run by Digital Biscuit organisers.

The successful artist will have:
substantial experience in background painting for feature or TV series
→a portfolio showing strong painterly techniques and colour skills
→strong knowledge of colour theory and lighting
→the ability to work as part of a team and have a good attitude, be self motivated and professional at all times
→the ability to meet deadlines while meeting the style and quality of show
→the ability to work digitally, communicate progress of work, to organise and prioritise and ensure all files are named correctly
→the ability to work well under pressure with good time-management skills
