TELEGAEL CO-PRODUCTION “SABRINA: SECRETS OF A TEENAGE WITCH” PICKED UP BY US TELEVISION NETWORK THE HUB

Telegael co-production “Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch” has been picked up by US television network The Hub and is slated for a 2013 broadcast.

The series is a re-imagining of the successful Archie Comics’ franchise “Sabrina The Teenage Witch” and is being co-produced by Moonscoop, Archie Comics Publications, Inc, DSK Group India, Laughing Lion (India) and Telegael.

Irish audiences will know the character of Sabrina from the successful live-action TV show “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch” which ran in the 1990s and early 2000s. The new co-production will revamp the long-running character and bring her up-to-date.

The title character will be voiced by Ashley Tisdale. Writer Dean Batali (“What’s Up Warthogs,” “That 70s Show,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) will be head writer and Trevor Wall (Hero:108) will serve as director for the series.

“We are delighted to be involved in such an exciting project as “Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch.”  The character was very popular here when the original series was being broadcast and for Telegael to be involved in the new animated series is a huge honour.” said Siobhán Ní Ghadhra, COO at Telegael.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with Telegael and Moonscoop for this exciting new era of Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “Sabrina has had a long and successful history in animation and TV and we are looking forward to continued success with this latest venture.”

iheedCrowd : Animations and Global Health

A special guest post from Kunal D Patel, Medical Director at ‘iheed’

IheedCrowd, an online animation platform where digital designers have the opportunity to create the next generation of health education content, has been launched by iheed.

This website is the first of its kind giving digital designers and animators the opportunity to contribute to health education and training, and in turn making a difference for those whose access to healthcare is non-existent.

The animations that are being produced are done so via a competition model, which allows for the storyboarding of health content. The best storyboards are made into full animations under the guidance of health experts, and are awarded cash prizes.

iheedCrowd is already being seen as an exciting educational platform with partnerships being formed with groups such as Toon Boom Animation, ConceptShare, Comource and the International VFX hub. Developing a global animation library is a major part of the online platform, with animations already having been developed for topics such as breastfeeding, and added by acclaimed animation producers and studios, such as Chocolate Moose Media and Buzzco Associates.

This library can then be utilized by mHealth (mobile health) platforms and operators for the training of health workers in areas such as Sub-Saharan Africa, a fact already highlighted by the influential report, “Preparing the next generation of community health workers: the Power of technology”.

At iheed, we identify, invest in and promote innovative health solutions for Community Health Workers (CHW). Many of the world’s poor seek help from healthcare providers, therefore, iheed bridges new world innovations with this crisis, bringing in new investment and convening leadership.

We have assembled a community of leaders and practitioners who collectively work to enhance
CHW capabilities, mobilizing information, next generation content and technology to promote
community health practice and intervention. With animators providing novel health content,
a new community is being created which will revolutionize health education in the developing
world.
