The workshop was funded by the PURE Project, an ecological intitiative based in Wicklow, and each film is environmentally themed and were made using all recycled materials; fabric remnants, cardboard, drinking straws, cotton wool and bin bags and so on. Over the duration of the course we had about 30 students between the ages of 10 and 17, taking them throught the stages of story pitching, boarding, character design and then building and animating. At the end we had produced nearly 15 minutes of footage, which, I think you’ll agree, is quite a lot.
Here is a blog post I made documenting the process in more detail: link
The very talented Eimhin McNamara facilitates the workshop along with Carol Freeman and Louise Bagnall and the project was initiated by Ian Davis of the PURE Project, and made possible with the support of the Tinahely Courthouse, Wicklow County Council Arts Office, the Wicklow Film Commission and the Arts Council, as well as the loan of some equipment and cameras from Adrien Merigeau Lisa Powell and Matt Horan.
