Tickets For Studio Ghibli Classics!

All you Studio Ghibli fans are about to be very happy!  The lovely folks over at the Light House Cinema have been kind enough to give us 2 pairs of tickets for a screening of My Neighbour Totoro  AND another 2 pairs of tickets to Grave of the Fireflies!

The dates and times for the screenings are as follows:

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning these tickets, all you have to do is like the image on Pegbar’s Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/pegbar ) referring to the Studio Ghibli tickets, it looks like this

That’s it! We will draw names from the list of likes on Thursday the 23rd at 13:00.  Ticket winners will be told how to collect their tickets after the draw on Thursday.
If you don’t win the tickets, not to worry. Both of these great films will be screening for a week at the Light House Cinema in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the release of the Studio Ghibli classics.  Screenings are in Japanese with English subtitles, there will be a special family-friendly dubbed screening of My Neighbour Totoro on Saturday and Grave Of The Fireflies on Sunday afternoon.

The Pegbar team are back and this time they have teamed up with Acme Filmworks and AWN.com to bring to us the legendary Animation Show of Shows. Founded in 1998 by Ron Diamond, the Animation Show of Shows is a traveling selection of some of the best animation short films of the year. Join us in Science Gallery this Sunday as we watch some of the best short animations films of 2012 such as, Paperman, Daffy’s Rhapsody, Here and the Great Elsewhere and many, many more. Curated and presented by Ron Diamond.

About Ron Diamond: 

Ron Diamond is the founder and Executive Producer of Acme Filmworks, Inc. and co-founder and President of Animation World Network. He produced the Academy Award-nominated short film Nibbles (2003) and the animated feature film Drawn From Memory (1995). He was also the executive producer of “Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show.” Diamond has lectured at leading animation schools and has served as a juror and guest speaker at numerous film events.

Flickerpix are looking for experienced 2D Digital Illustrators and Animators for a number of upcoming productions.

DIGITAL ILLUSTRATORS

- Candidates should have a portfolio showing flexibility in various 2D techniques. Competency in creating background artwork using a painterly approach, with a strong grasp of composition, staging, colour styling and lighting.

- Substantial experience designing props and creating assets in varying styles.

- Experience working in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator is essential, preferably on a broadcast series or film production.

- Must work with the Director and Art Director to create Key and Intermediate Backgrounds following the established style, based on conceptual artwork and layout designs.

- Effectively communicate progress, maintain style and quality within the constraints of a production schedule deadline, while adhering to an established pipeline.

2D DIGITAL ANIMATORS

- Candidates must have proven experience of 2D character driven animation. Preferably on broadcast series or film production.

- Experience using Adobe AfterEffects, but candidates with experience in CelAction or Flash will also be considered.

- Candidates will have a thorough understanding of traditional animation principles and a proven ability of applying them to a digital asset-driven medium.

- Must have the ability to take direction to create a character driven performance and adapt to various stylistic approaches.

- Good interpersonal skills. Must work proficiently within the constraints of a production schedule to given deadlines/quotas and have the ability for a fast turnaround on animation revisions issued.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who are residents of Northern Ireland. Game Artist

Sugra Games is seeking a super talented game artist to work on an exciting
story driven game.

This person must be a superhuman artist who will define all visual aspects of
the game, delivering character art, environment art and user interface styles
right through production under their own guidance, working with the team to
bring their vision to life.

Responsibilities

~ Visionary – Must define all aspects of the artistic vision and style of the
game

~ Character art – Strong understanding of human anatomy

~ Character and other animations – Strong production experience required
here to make sure all game animations shine

~ Creating environment art – Strong understanding of contrast in games

Experience

~ Worked on and completed (essential!) 1 or 2 games

~ Degree or other qualification in art or media

~ Passionate gamer ~ essential

Abilities

~ Ability to make concept art quickly

~ Excellent composition skills – Good understanding of contrast in games

~ Can do user Interface – create suitable colour palettes and filters

~ Expert with at least one digital art tool (e.g. Photoshop)

~ Familiar with game tools – e.g. Cocos2D, UDK, Unity,

~ Familiar with managing libraries of animated assets

~ Strong knowledge of lighting in game environments

~ Team player – helps others, and works together for best results

~ Excellent communicator

Kavaleer is hiring a 2d Digital Animator

2D DIGITAL ANIMATOR

Kavaleer Productions are recruiting 2D digital animators for an upcoming TV series. The project will be animated using CelAction 2D software. We’re working on multiple high profile projects, so this is a great opportunity.

Position Requirements:

- Must have proven 2D character animation experience. Preferably on broadcast series or film production.

- Minimum of 2 years experience using CelAction, Flash, After FX, Toon Boom or Anime Studio in a paid position.

- The ideal candidate will have CelAction experience, but this is not essential as training can be provided.

- Must have excellent knowledge of traditional animation principles and the ability to apply them to the digital medium.

- Must be flexible, willing to learn and be a motivated and motivating team player. – Able to work within a production schedule.

- Must have good interpersonal skills.

- Must be willing to work in house in our Dublin studio.

This position is an excellent opportunity for highly organized and motivated animator who enjoys being part of an exciting, fast paced animation studio.
